It was around noon when Melody slipped out of her dorm and wandered out towards town. The place was getting claustrophobic. It was hard for her to deal with it sometimes. It probably had something to do with the full moon that was dealing ever closer, making it hard for the Magic Student to stay in control of herself. The viciousness that swirled just beneath the surface was a strange feeling for the sweet Magic student, and she doubted that she would ever get used to it, no matter how many full moons passed her by. This was her curse, however. She would have to deal with it.
She was dressed fairly simply. She wore jeans, purple converse 'boots' that had been a gift from her little brother, a simple gray hoodie to protect her from the chilling wind and a wolf necklace tucked beneath her favorite shirt. All in all, Melody was dressed fairly conservatively, as always, hiding the scars on her collarbone. She would never willingly reveal them. It wasn't necessarily that Melody was ashamed of them, but they brought unwanted questions to light. Melody wanted none to know of her lot in life. It was none of their business what she turned into during nights of the full moon. It wasn't like Melody ever shifted anywhere near others. She always got out long before there was any chance of shifting.
Melody had been wandering down the street when the lazy tune of a street musician reached her ears. Melody being Melody, the musical girl adjusted her path, wandering up to the man. He played a trumpet, and at his side, a dog perched, tail wagging cheerfully. Perhaps the dog was there to garner sympathy from the observer. But Melody truthfully didn't care. She was appreciating the music. Her blue eyes slipped half shut as she listened to the tune that he played. He was a good trumpet player, Melody thought to herself, smiling as she listened to the music that he spun with that instrument. It was a far cry from what she could play on the piano, but then, they were rather different instruments, weren't they?
His song was over before long, and Melody dug through her pocket to toss a few coins into the instrument's case. She nodded at the man, smiling slightly before she wandered away again, slipping into a small book store. The door tinkled and jingled as it slipped shut behind her and Melody wandered idly through the shop, taking in the scent of musty books as she looked for something, anything that looked worth buying. Perhaps there would be some drawing books in the back. Melody did need to get something for Ceol's birthday. Ceol was as much of an artist as Melody was, so she wanted to get him something that would represent that. She probably wouldn't get him a book, though. Still, there wasn't any harm in looking.
So Melody ambled through the small bookstore, humming softly to herself. She might have crooned a directional song to locate the area that she was looking for, but that took the fun away from the search. So instead Melody made her way along, pausing to examine this book and that with no apparent pattern.

Genesis was in the book store asking about jobs, surprise surprise. He did a lot of asking, and little applying. He wanted to work, but none of the jobs were appealing to the theatrical military man. The artsy theatrical side was what brought him to the book store. With his favorite play tucked into the inner pocket of his jacket, it only made sense that he made a visit to the bookstore that held so many plays and interesting tales.
He waited for the clerk to return, for she had vanished into the back, when another person entered the store. He didn't look at them at first, but when he saw her out of the corner of his gaze, he turned his head slightly to look at her as she wandered down the asles of shelves. His blue gaze narrowed, first because of the scent that wafted under his nose. Books, paper, leather...and werewolf. He tensed up for a moment, then found himself frowning as he watched the girl. She was familiar. He stood tall and turned so that his back was against the counter and he could watch the teen with ease. He watched her as she wandered in a random pattern, looking at books as she went. She made him think of Ella. Only a lot younger.
"Have you ever read Loveless?" He asked smoothly as he tried to get the girl to face him. He wanted to see her face, and hear her voice, to see if he really did know who she was. He had a hunch that he did know who she was, but just hadn't seen her in some time. Yet, going by her age, too, that limited who it could be, which made him slightly nervous. Oh, goddess of the world...If it happened to be who he thought it could be, he didn't know what he would do.

Melody's gaze flashed towards the man, her nostrils flaring moments after his did. She sneezed softly as the scent of werewolf drifted beneath her nose and frowned slightly. That was quite odd. Why did it smell like werewolves in a place like this? To tell the truth, though, Melody didn't want to investigate. She wanted nothing more than to find a book and get out of there. Perhaps she ought to just leave and find Ceol something else. But for some reason, Melody stayed, wandering slowly along, keeping one eye on the man cautiously.
The young girl looked up sharply when the man spoke, tilting her head slightly. Loveless. Oh, she had read it. Her mother had read it to her every night for years. She had read it on her own as soon as she learned how to read. Loveless was a tangled party of their family history. Oh, her father had read it. Her father, Genesis, had loved it, so Melody's mother had made her read it time and time again. It was all right. It wasn't the most amazing book ever, and Melody couldn't see why Genesis had loved it so much. But it wasn't all terrible. Of course, her mother had loved it. Probably because it reminded her mother of her father.
She took a moment to answer him. "I have." Melody responded simply, glancing at the man curiously. "But if you're looking for it in here, I haven't the faintest idea where you might find it. Sorry." She did feel bad about being a bit snappish with him. It wasn't his fault that the book meant that much to Melody. It also wasn't his fault that the wolf within her was being snappy, wanting to get out of this place.
So Melody smiled apologetically at the man. The idea that conversing with strangers might be dangerous never occurred to the naive teenager. Instead, the dominant emotion in her mind was guilt about being so rude to this man. "If you're looking for it, I can help you look?" Melody offered, still feeling pretty bad about the snappish tone that she had taken with him. So she was trying to offer him an olive branch of sorts to make up for it. Of course, he was under no obligations to accept her off. Melody wasn't sure if he even was looking for that book. Maybe he was just curious.
That was an odd thing to ask about though. Melody was curious as to what his intentions were. It was probably just a big coincidence. But Melody was curious!

Genesis watched the girl, his blue eyes narrowed as he tried to take in every motion of her face. The little tick that came with her answer to his question did not go unnoticed. He frowned more as she snapped, her voice not only familiar, but her face too. Not to mention the fact that she knew about Loveless. This was just too odd to be luck of the draw. The man stood up tall and reached into the inside pocket of his red-pink leather jacket and kept one eye on the girl as she asked about helping him find it.
"I have a copy, Limited edition and signed, actually," He said as he held up the little leather bound book that was well worn, but still in almost perfect condition. The only thing wrong with it really was the fact that blood had stained the edges of the pages slightly, and a bit of the back cover. Other wise, it was still nice and neat.
"One more question. Does your last name happen to be Amusio or Rhapsodos?" He asked as his eyes slightly narrowed more. When he had last seen Ella and his two children, they held Ella's last name, but he didn't know if Ella had changed their last names or not. They had often joked about it, but never really were serious, but then he had vanished and he knew that that would cause some interesting reactions in some people.
Genesis knew that he had said that he would only ask that last question, but as he looked at the girl, he became convinced. "Melody?" He asked finally as he stood even more tall and frowned more. He put his book back into the inner pocket of his jacket and just looked at the girl that held a similar face to Ella, but with a bit more of a feral look, a look similar to his own feminine look. There was almost no doubt left in his mind. Holy Shit!

Okay, so now Melody was really curious. When the stranger produced a copy of Loveless, her eyebrows shot up as she looked him up and down, an appraising look on the girl's features. Wow, talk about coincidences. She had just run across the first man since her father to show any interest in Loveless in a bookstore in Wisconsin. It was pretty funny when you thought about it. But Melody wasn't sure that she really wanted to talk about Loveless. It had enough of a bloody history without Melody adding any weight to it. "Impressive." Melody murmured all the same, nodding her head slightly as her gaze flicked around.
Stiffening when the man continued to speak, Melody's eyes widened nervously, and for the first time, the idea that maybe she shouldn't be conversing so openly with strangers appeared in her mind, and Melody froze when her back hit a bookshelf. She was trapped. But to tell the truth, Melody was just a little bit scared. Well, more than a little. "How did you know?" Melody asked curiously, her gaze focusing on the man. He didn't look familiar. She didn't have the faintest clue of who he was and yet he knew her middle and her last name. Something about him seemed off. It was bothering her. But more than that, she wanted to know how he knew her name. It didn't make sense. She hadn't mentioned her name at all, had she?
And then it started to make sense. "Daddy?" It was a little girl's question that escaped her before she could control it. It was the little girl who had lost her father and looked for him around every corner, inside every closet, beneath every bed. And now she had her father back. But the bigger girl that had grown up without her father recoiled, reining the inner child in, and Melody's eyes narrowed slightly as she stared at this man. Genesis Rhapsodos. It all made sense now.
There was anger in Melody's reaction. There were few things that made her angry, but the memories of watching her mother crying late in the night, with a picture of Genesis Rhapsodos clutched in her hands, that made her angry. What right did he have to vanish and then reappear without a word? And yet Melody couldn't bring herself to hate him. Hatred just wasn't in her blood. "Why here?" Melody asked at last, her eyes softening, "Why now?" It was hard to put those questions into words, but she wanted to know. More than anything, she wanted to know. Why hadn't it happened before? But at least it was now instead of never, she told herself. She knew it was irrational to be angry about it, but she was all the same.
He had abandoned them. It had been one thing when she'd thought he was dead. Well, probably dead. But it was another now that he was there, standing right before her and he hadn't even gone home to her mother.

Genesis felt like he was dying inside. His daughter was in front of him. The little girl that had been... well... so little... when he had left. The child that was just so innocent and tiny, was now so grown up, and standing in front of him with eyes of both surprise, fear and wonder. It was almost heart stopping to watch her as she spoke softly, only saying the simple words that he had not heard in so long. "Daddy?"[/b]
That simple word was enough to make Genesis' face soften and almost weaken, making him look older for just a moment. Years of worrying about his family. Years of being afraid to see them again. Years of stress. All of it became visible for a split second across his fair face. It was age and stress that he had hidden beneith his theatrical shell for years. Since that day he had joined the military.
Then Melody continued, speaking about why there and now. He simply smiled at her, refraining himself from reaching for her to embrace her the way he wanted to. He did not want to overwhelm her, yet it was all overwhelming him. "There is a reason... I have much fondness for Loveless. Even if the Marrow if barren of promises, Nothing will forstall my return," He said smoothly to her, his voice soft and gentle, and even lacking most of its dramatic tint. He had no intentions of speaking with pride. He wasn't even trying to be strong any more. No, the sight of his little girl made his heart melt and show his true colors, the same way that Ella had when they met.
Finally, Genesis spead his arms slightly and took one small step forward. He wasn't going to press it anymore, but how he wanted to hold his daughter in his arms again. She had been so little, so fragile, so innocent. Now, she was tall and beautiful, but she still held her beautiful innocence in her eyes. Pride was evident in Genesis' chest, all because of the fact that he knew that he had been half of her creation. From just looking at Melody, he was proud of the beautiful life he had created along with the love of his life. Another, perfect beauty.
